PASSIVE INCOME is income that you get without having to work for it. I know this may sound like some kind of “pie in the sky” get-rich-quick scheme, but passive income is for real. In fact, every single billionaire on earth uses the power of to keep money coming in while he or she jets off to parties and resorts and such.
The best example of passive income in the physical world is real estate. When you own an apartment building and hire a property manager and a maintenance crew to take care of it for you and collect the rents, all you have to do is cash the checks that roll in.
Of course, passive income doesn’t just happen overnight, or everyone would be getting it. In the case of the apartment building owner, it took money, time, and knowledge to set up an S corporation, find a building to buy, put up the to buy it with and get a loan for the rest, renovate it, then screen and hire the property manager and maintenance crew. But once that was all done, checks began rolling in with little or no effort.
Well, Google Adsense is the online equivalent of that. You’ll have tojust a little bit of time in learning about it, but once you get it set up you can look forward to seeing those nice checks roll in. Or, if you’re totally online, seeing money flow into your So What Is Google Adsense?
Google AdSense is a fast and absolutely ridiculously easy way for people with websites or blogs of all types and sizes to put up and display relevant Google ads on the content pages of their site and Because the Google AdSense ads relate to what your visitors came to your site to read about, or because the ads match up to the interests and characteristics of the kind of people your content attracts, you now have a way to improve your content pages AND make some serious bucks off of them.
So what kind of ads do you have to put up? That’s the good part—you don’t have to decide. Google does it for you. AdSense always delivers relevant ads that are precisely targeted—on a page-by-page basis—to the content that people find on your site or blog. For example, if you have a page that tells the story of your pet fish, Google will send you ads for that site that are for pet stores, fish food, fish bowls, aquariums…you get the picture.
Here’s the thing you need to know: Google has no strict criteria for acceptance into the AdSense program, and Ad Sense doesn’t hit you with a minimum traffic requirement. The only criteria they’re really sticky about is the standard “acceptable content” requirements, and that’s pretty standard almost anywhere.
Once you’ve been accepted into Google AdSense, you’ll be able to get the AdSense advertisements on any site you own using the same ad code, provided you obey the Google guidelines. (And that’s very, very important—more on that later.)
Your reporting doesn’t occur in real time, but is updated regularly throughout the day. Right now, you can’t view reports based on a domain or site basis if you run the AdSense on more than one site.
What Can It Do For Me?
In three words, EARN YOU MONEY. More relevant ads on your pages translates into more clicks—and more money that you receive. Because when users click on an ad, Google will pay you. If you’ve set up your own sales team, you’ll get an additional benefit: AdSense complements their efforts. It doesn’t compete with them. With AdSense, you get a reporting page that gives you a breakdown on how your ads are doing and what they’re bringing in.
Google has a huge advertiser base, so they have ads for all kinds of businesses and for just about every type of content no matter how broad or specialized it is. And since Google provides the ads, you don’t have to spend time talking to your advertisers.
AdSense represents advertisers that span the spectrum. These advertisers range from large global brands to small and local companies. And ads are targeted by geography so global businesses can display local advertising easily. One more thing: you can use AdSense in many languages.

So how does AdSense figure out how to do all this targeted advertising? Well, AdSense has the ability to deliver relevant ads because the gurus at Google understand how web pages really work and they’re continually refining their technology to make it smarter all the time.
For example, some words can have several different meanings depending on context. You’ve seen th is happen with “two” and “too” and “to.” Google technology is smart enough to understand these distinctions from the context that the word appears in, so you get more targeted ads.

What Kinds Of Ads Will Get On My Site?
Obviously, there are some kinds of ads you wouldn’t want to have on your site, such as pornographic ones or ads for sleazy multi-level marketing schemes that scream “Make $30,000 a month just for watching TV!” in big red letters.
Well, you can put your mind at ease. Google has an ad review process that checks the ads they send to your site. This process ensures that the ads that you serve up are family-friendly and that they comply with Google’s strict editorial guidelines.
Google’s ad-screening team combines sensitive language filters, input from site owners like you, and a team of linguists with good old common sense to filter out ads that could be inappropriate for your content. And if that’s not enough, you have to capability to block competitive ads and choose your own default ads.
That’s another nice feature: Google kind of lets you run your own show.

Now, another thing you might be concerned about is whether the ads will clash with the look, feel, and colors scheme you’ve got going with your site. Don’t worry. You can customize the appearance of ads and choose from a wide range of colors and templates. Same thing goes for your search results page. And reports are customizable, too. Google provides flexible reporting tools that allow you to group your pages any which way you want.
That means you can view your results by URL, domain, ad type, category and more so that you can figure out where your earnings are coming from.

How Do I Get Started?
It’s easy to get started with AdSense and it only takes a few minutes. You fill out one single online application and that’s it. If you don’t have a website sign up for a blog at www.blogger.com. Put up something good on your blog and then apply for google adsense
Once you're approved, it takes only minutes to set up AdSense; all you have to do is copy and paste a designated block of HTML into the source code for your site. Once you do that, targeted ads will start showing up on your website.
Am I Going To Make A lot Of Money Off This?
The amount of money you can make with Google AdSense mainly depends on what user needs your Website for. For instance, a site about women’s issues can make some serious bucks on AdSense because of the high level of competition for related keywords.
The CPC (cost per click) is the amount you get paid every time a user clicks on one of those ad banners. CPC rates for competitive keywords can be more than $1, which translates directly to your site’s earning potential within the program.
However, if you’re in a less competitive market, you’ll make less money—that’s just a fact of life. Still, it’s unusual to see anyone using Google AdSense report earnings of less than an effective $1 CPM (cost per 1000 impressions), and the average runs in the range of $4-$5 CPM. Some people are making an effective CPM of $15 or more with AdSense. Oh, and best yet, this is all after Google takes its commission.
About that commission…commission is definitely one thing is that’s a little bit ambiguous with AdSense. Google doesn’t publicize it’s “cut”, and only displays the publisher’s cut in proprietary member reports, so getting good, accurate information on this has been difficult.
To date, comparisons of AdWords rates with AdSense earnings add up to commissions of between 40% and 60%. People speculate all the time on user boards as to why Google refuses to publish its commission rates, but no one has the answer. It might have something to do with legal reasons or it could just be that Google wants to retain the ability to change rates without having to send out an announcement about it each time, which costs money.

Bloggeries
March 21st, 2007

Bloggeries is a well-established blog directory that has been going ever since 2005. I think that the directory has a really funky design and I like the logo, I’m not to sure how many blogs are listed but there seems to be alot I checked it out and there seems to be a good amount of blogs listed in all categories so if you are searching for certain types of blogs you will be able to find them with no problems. I recently submitted this blog to Bloggeries and I was really impressed to see that my detail page had been indexed by Google within days of my blog getting accepted, this to me is what makes a directory quality, the more often a directory is getting spidered the better, it is no good if it takes Google 6 months to find your listing. If you are looking for blogs I strongly recommend that you check Bloggeries out there are loads of quality blogs listed, if you have a blog you are looking to promote you should definitely get listed, a listing will help you to rank in the search engines and it will drive readers to your blog because of the huge amount of traffic that it receives on a daily basis, it is $19 to have your blog reviewed for inclusion or free if you link back to the directory.

Uncoverthenet.com
March 12th, 2007

Uncover the Net has been going since 2004, I recently submitted my SEO website to the directory and I was very impressed with the results, when I submit to directories I like to test them to see if they have link value, I decided to go for a commercial listing which cost me $79, with the commercial listing you get three extra links for the sub-pages of your site on your own detail page. Before I submitted to the directory my text links page (see here) had no optimisation for the phrase text link ads, I do not sell text links as such, I simply offer text links from directories, never the less people will search for this phrase and I am thinking perhaps I can talk them into directory listings once I get them in. I used the phrase text link ads as a link to my text links page for one of my sub-links (see my detail page), within less then a week Google had spidered my listing and my detail page had been indexed, I checked on UK only Google.co.uk and my text link page went straight in on the 1st page for the phrase text link ads, I was pleasently suprised that a single link from Uncover the Net with no mention of the phrase on-page had made the page rank on the 1st page of Google for a pretty competitive phase, I will be submiting all of my clients from now on. In conclusion if you are wanting to get better rankings in the search engines you should definitely submit, it will help, I would go for a commercial listing as well so that you get the three extra links for the sub-pages of your website.

World Site Index
March 3rd, 2007

Word Site Index is one of if not the best of the free submit directories on the web, I have submitted many of my clients sites there and they all get reviewed and approved, sometimes it can take a few days to a week or so before they get included but hey it’s free and well worth the wait, the reason for this is that they probably get 100’s if not 1000’s of submissions a week. I have to take my hat off to whoever own’s the directory they run the directory like a true professional, some free submit directories will list your site and then you check about three months later and your listing has disappeared because they have done a revamp or they have just decided to de-list your site World Site Index is not one of those directories, I just did a quick check of sites that I submitted over 6 months ago and they are all still listed, the directory get’s deep crawled by all of the search engines on a regular basis so if your site gets listed it will definitely give you a quality link for your site and another vote of confidence, if you are not listed go and submit now.

GoGuides.Org
February 23rd, 2007

GoGuides.Org has been going ever since 2001 and it is definitely one of the best directories on the web. I like the way the directory is designed, it is very easy to navigate and it has a huge amount of quality sites listed, all of these little things help to make up a quality directory. Even though the directory has a huge amount of sites listed when you submit your site it will still normally be listed on a PR3 or a PR2 page, the directory is geared up to hold an unlimited amount of sites and the PageRank is spread nice and evenly across all of the different pages, if your site gets listed the link will count as a true vote of confidence towards your site because of their strict no spam policy so it will help you to build up trust with the search engines and it will help you to rank. To get your site reviewed for inclusion you have to pay a small fee of $39.99 which is not alot of money for a listing in a well-established trusted directory like GoGuides.

v7n Directory
February 18th, 2007

v7n Directory is one of the most popular, powerful and well maintained directories on the web hosted on a three year old site. When I 1st started my SEO company last year I didn’t know who v7n were, I just remember I kept seeing adverts for the v7n Directory cropping up wherever I looked, I soon realised that getting my SEO company website listed in v7n was a must. The directory has an incredible amount of trust with the search engines and I often see it ranking high on Google for listed websites company names, this is because the directory is so well-maintained, they won’t just list any site that pays them, I know for a fact that they regularly decline submissions from sites which do not meet their standards also v7n employ people to go out and find quality sites to add to the directory to make it a better resource for searchers. To get your site reviewed for inclusion it is a one off cost of $49 (declined submissions are refunded) for this you get a listing in your chosen category with a link to your website and your very own detail page telling people about your company again with a link to your website, on top of that because the directory is so popular and well organised it will also drive quality traffic to your site. If you are serious about internet marketing get your site listed now!

Koollog Dir is a really cool free submit directory hosted on a site that is all about free stuff. There are lot’s of free submit directories out there but many of them are a complete waste of time, either your link will never get added or even if it does it will never get spidered by any search engines, Koollog Dir has a Google PageRank of 4/10, most of the category pages have PR aswell and the entire directory is indexed by Google, MSN and Yahoo so when you submit to Koollog Dir you will definitely get a quality link for your site (links are approved fast), I really like the design of the directory as well, the owner has obviously put alot of effort in to making sure that it looks the part, the categories are not to cluttered and it doesn’t link to any dodgy (bad neighborhood) sites, what are you waiting for? Aviva Directory
February 17th, 2007

Aviva Directory was founded in 2005 and has quickly grown to become one of the most powerful directories on the web IMHO the best value for money directory there is going. I submitted my SEO company website to it back in December last year and since then I have submitted many of my clients sites because I was that impressed with the service. You can get a regular listing for a one off cost of just $35, for this you will get link to your site in the category you wish to be in plus 4 links on your very own detail page, at the recent Google PageRank update my detail page got a Google PageRank of 4/10, this means that for a one off cost of $35 I have got 5 PR4 links for my site and to top it off I also get regular traffic from Aviva, I often see referals showing up in my Google Analytics account, Aviva Directory is a true bargain!

UK Small Business Directory
February 17th, 2007

UK Small Business Directory is without a doubt the most powerful UK directory there is, whilst my SEO website was in the Google sandbox it was the number 1 generator of traffic to my site and I am very grateful to TJ for hooking me up with enhanced listings. If you have a UK website you should definitely get listed for two reasons, firstly it will give you a number of quality backlinks for your website and secondly the directory is used by thousands of people in the UK to find businesses so it will drive quality traffic to your site, I have had lot’s of business off people who have found my site via UKSBD. I would recommend that you go for a super enhanced listing as these offer maximum exposure and they help more with SEO.

Dmoz Directory (The Open Directory Project) is probably the most powerful directory in the world. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to get listed because it is edited by volunteers, I have submitted my own site and many of my SEO clients sites and none of them have ever been listed, perhaps I am doing something wrong? Other people do get their sites listed though and I know from personal experience that a Dmoz listing will help a site to perform slightly better in the search engines, one of the reasons a Dmoz listing makes a difference is because lot’s of other directories take their results from Dmoz including Google directory, Alexa directory and Excite directory to name a few. In conclusion it is well worth submitting your site to Dmoz but do not count on getting listed, Dmoz is one of many top notch directories you can submit your site to and a site that is listed in lot’s of other quality directories will beat a site that is relying on a Dmoz listing every time.

Blogging about ones own interest would be much easier than choosing an odd topic. But given the target of making money with Google Adsense, I would suggest three successful topics; 1. Amazing Cars 2. Latest Technology 3. Reviews of Music & Movies Amazing Cars - would produce mediocre traffic with average EPC between $0.20 to $0.50 - depending on your keywords. Technology - a high profile topic - would produce low traffic but high EPC between $1.00 & &10.00 - truly it pays to focus on this one Reviews on Movies & Music - would produce high traffic but EPC would be very low - between $0.01 to $0.10. One Final Note: Your Adsense success even depends on many other factors - i.e. placement of Ads, traffic and keywords on blog. More info at
